The "Flowers for Funds" program at Robertson Public School is an innovative school gardening initiative focused on raising funds for essential school resources, like updating the school's decades-old classroom furniture.
Through the cultivation of cut flowers, particularly dahlias, students engage in hands-on learning that not only beautifies their school environment but also provides a sustainable way to generate funds.
his program is designed to educate and connect students with the natural world, allowing them to experience the various stages of a dahlia’s life cycle throughout the year—from planting and nurturing to harvesting and selling the flowers.
Beyond the financial benefits, "Flowers for Funds" fosters a deeper appreciation for the environment and teamwork, making learning both impactful and engaging.

The first bloom has arrived and it's a beauty! The tuber for this bloom was generously donated by Kathy Finnigan of the Robertson Garden Club. The plants are looking lovely and healthy and buds are forming just in time for a return to school in early Feb.
